2. Petawawa Whitewater Canoe Trip, Algonquin Park
Aug 28, 29, 30 & 32, 2003:
My brother and I are going to be on the beautiful Petawawa
River inside the northern wilderness section of Algonquin
Park. It is a challenging and extremely scenic fast moving
river that sports the famous Big & Little Thompson Rapids,
the Natch, Roll-away and Crooked Chutes. Fishing is good,
the campsites are great, and the scenary is better (Tom Thompson
did a lot of his famous paintings from this area). All in
all, it is one of the best canoe trips I've been on.
The last time, I went with Dave Turner and Les Wilcox
and we had a ball, a million laughs.
It is short, only 30 miles from
Traverse Lake to McManus Lake and can be paddled
in three days, but we're adding a fourth just to make sure.
If
you wish to join us, let me know.
I've put a reservation
on 2 whitewater tandem canoes for rent at the Wildrock Outfitters
in Peterborough for those who need a canoe, so let me know soon
before I'll have
to cancel them.

3. Whitewater Slalom Races,
Gull River, Minden
This is the
Ontario Open Canoe Slalom Championships and
it is held at the Minden Whitewater Preserve.
I'll
be there, working as a volunteer - gate judge and/or race
starter.
If
you wish to come up on one or both days to be a spectator,
volunteer or competitor, let me know and we'll arrange to
get together up there.
